We believe success is in the details. At first glance, it’s just another crisp, clear morning at our Hutchinson, MN Generator facility. But look a little closer, and the Zephyr story starts to reveal itself.
You’ll notice every vehicle backed into its spot — not because it’s easier, but because it’s safer. You’ll see a clean, well-kept campus, snow markers ready for winter maintenance, and pride in our country. You’ll see our president and founder out front, sprinkling deicer — not because anyone asked him to, but because he’s looking out for everyone’s safety. You’ll see enthusiasm, kindness, and mutual respect. Quality at Zephyr starts with the little things — and it ripples through every part of our business.

In the United States, wind energy production typically peaks during the winter months, driven by seasonal atmospheric conditions like stronger pressure gradients and powerful jet stream activity. While the exact percentage varies by region and year, wind turbines generally generate 25-30% of their annual energy output between December and February. Here’s to wishing our customers and colleagues a successful and productive peak wind energy season.

At Zephyr Wind Services, precision and reliability are at the core of everything we do. In this video, President Trevor Armstrong and Director of Engineering John VanderKuur explain the critical role of the balance stand in ensuring the smooth operation and longevity of wind turbines. Just like an unbalanced car tire can cause vibrations, an unbalanced rotor in a wind generator produces vibrations that must be absorbed by the machine. To address this, we go above and beyond industry standards, balancing our rotors to ISO Grade 1.0—far superior to the typical ISO Grade 2.5. From the rotor to the fan subassembly and the complete rotor assembly, we meticulously balance each component to achieve unparalleled precision and efficiency.
